Beyond the storefront

Built for what happens after add to cart.

A variety pack, a recurring coffee order, and a wholesale case need different rules. We map the product, purchase model, and fulfillment operation together.

Subscriptions customers can actually manage

Make one-time and recurring choices clear, then connect cadence, skips, swaps, payment recovery, accounts, and customer service. We validate subscription-platform capabilities and migration constraints before recommending a stack.

Subscription architecture

Bundles that keep inventory honest

Variety packs, build-a-box experiences, gifts, and multipacks should be easy to buy and possible to fulfill. We define component inventory, pack sizes, pricing, discounts, and how each order reaches the warehouse.

Custom Shopify development

Product education, without the guesswork

Structure flavor, ingredients, allergens, nutrition, preparation, and dietary attributes so shoppers can compare confidently. Your team owns product claims and approvals; we build the content model and publishing controls around them.

Product experience & design

Fulfillment that matches the product

Shelf-stable goods, chilled products, and mixed baskets cannot share an assumed delivery promise. We map shipping regions, cutoffs, temperature-sensitive restrictions, and fulfillment handoffs with your operators and providers.

Fulfillment & systems integration

A different buying path for wholesale

Retail buyers and distributors need case quantities, company accounts, approved assortments, pricing, terms, and reordering. We confirm plan eligibility and scope the native, app, and custom components needed for your B2B operating model.

B2B & wholesale commerce

Connected product, inventory, and order data

ERP, warehouse, subscription, and commerce systems need clear ownership of each record. We engineer monitored data flows and reconciliation, while leaving lot tracking, expiry, and traceability with the systems equipped to manage them.

A practical way forward

The right starting point. A clear path to launch.

Start with the purchase pattern and the operational constraints, whether you are moving platforms or improving the storefront you already have.

How we work
  1. Map the order, from assortment to delivery.

Review catalog, margins, subscription rules, pack sizes, wholesale needs, and fulfillment restrictions. Agree on data ownership and test the hardest workflows first.

  2. Build around the next purchase, too.

Connect discovery, bundles, subscription accounts, checkout, and enterprise systems. Rehearse migrations with the subscription and payment providers involved.

  3. Measure the full customer relationship.

Use subscription activation, repeat purchase, account-service friction, and fulfillment exceptions to prioritize improvements. Acquisition conversion is only one part of the picture.

Good questions

Let’s get into the details.

Which food and beverage brands has SDG worked with?

Our food and beverage clients include Peet’s Coffee, Stumptown Coffee, Intelligentsia Coffee, Keurig Dr Pepper, and Magic Spoon. The Peet’s case study covers the launch of three Shopify sites: Peet’s, Stumptown, and Intelligentsia. It also describes Peet’s subscription storefront and Microsoft Dynamics integration work. Magic Spoon’s case study covers its branded storefront, bundles, and recurring purchase experience.

Can you migrate an existing food subscription business to Shopify?

Yes. We assess the current subscription platform, customer accounts, payment-provider portability, delivery schedules, discounts, and fulfillment dependencies. Token portability and provider permissions must be confirmed; we do not assume payment details can simply be exported and reimported.

Can you support cold-chain shipping or products with expiry dates?

We can scope the commerce rules and integrations those operations require. Temperature control, lot tracking, expiry management, and food-safety processes remain responsibilities of the appropriate operators and systems, not capabilities supplied automatically by a Shopify storefront.

Can the same business sell direct to consumers and wholesale?

Yes, where the architecture and plan fit the requirements. We design distinct retail and business buying journeys, with account permissions, pack quantities, pricing, payment terms, and ERP handoffs confirmed during discovery.

Do we need a full rebuild to work with SDG?

No. We can begin with subscription friction, bundle usability, product discovery, an integration, or a focused conversion audit. A replatform is recommended only when the business case supports it.
