The work behind the practice

Built for how home brands really sell.

Furniture, custom framing, and designer trade each bring different demands. These are real SDG engagements, with the scope and engineering decisions behind them.

Furniture · Trade · Showrooms

Blu Dot

The showroom and the trade account, connected.

SDG delivered Shopify POS and B2B commerce for the modern furniture brand: trade pricing, NET30 terms, PDF quoting, and freight-aware wholesale workflows.

Custom framing · Omnichannel

Framebridge

A custom product. One continuous journey.

SDG engineered Framebridge’s move from a custom platform to Shopify Plus and POS, including a persistent cart across web, app, and studios and an in-store framing tool.

Jenni Kayne

An elevated brand experience, across channels.

SDG migrated Jenni Kayne from Magento to Shopify Plus and POS, connecting its home and lifestyle businesses with retail, endless-aisle selling, and designer trade quoting.

Shopify reports a 7.5% increase in overall conversion rate following Framebridge’s replatform. SDG provided engineering; Pattern led the UX redesign. This is a reported project outcome, not a forecast. Read Shopify’s case study.

Beyond the storefront

Beautiful on the surface. Connected underneath.

A home purchase can take weeks, involve a designer, and arrive on a freight truck. We design the experience and engineer the operations together.

Product discovery that answers the real questions

Will it fit? Which finish? What works together? We design product pages, collections, and search around dimensions, materials, color, care, room, and use. Swatches, samples, specifications, and editorial content help shoppers make a considered purchase without losing the brand’s point of view.

Search & merchandising

Customization without the operational guesswork

Upholstery, modular furniture, custom framing, and made-to-order products need more than a long options menu. We map valid combinations, pricing, lead times, and production data, then choose native Shopify capabilities, an appropriate app, or custom engineering. Configurations must survive the journey from product page to fulfillment.

Custom Shopify development

Trade programs built for how designers buy

Interior designers, architects, and wholesale buyers need a different path from retail shoppers. We build company-account workflows, approved pricing, payment terms, project quotes, and reorder experiences, with clear permissions and handoffs between sales, ecommerce, and finance.

B2B & trade commerce

Showroom conversations that carry through to checkout

A purchase can begin with a sample online, continue in a showroom, and close days later. We connect Shopify POS, customer records, quotes, and inventory so associates can sell beyond the stock on their floor. Cross-channel carts and custom selling tools are engineered around the experience your team needs.

Shopify POS & retail

Delivery promises the business can actually keep

Parcel, oversized freight, white-glove delivery, and mixed carts cannot be treated as the same order. We define delivery eligibility, service levels, fees, split shipments, and backorder messaging with your operations team, then connect the carriers and systems that make those promises possible.

Commerce & fulfillment integrations

A systems layer behind the beautiful storefront

Product, price, inventory, order, and fulfillment data need clear owners. We integrate Shopify with ERP, OMS, PIM, and retail systems, including architectures involving NetSuite and STORIS. Monitoring, retries, reconciliation, and recovery are designed into the integration so teams can operate it confidently after launch.

STORIS & Shopify
A practical way forward

From a complex brief to a build that holds.

A full replatform, a trade program, a showroom rollout, or a better product experience. Start with the problem that matters most.

How we work
  1. Map the business before choosing the build.

Bring your catalog, channel mix, trade requirements, fulfillment rules, and current stack. We identify the highest-risk workflows, validate platform fit, and define scope, dependencies, investment, and a phased roadmap.

  2. Design, engineer, and rehearse the move.

One senior team connects storefront UX, product modeling, integrations, and retail operations. For migrations, we reconcile data, map URLs and redirects, test ordering and fulfillment, and rehearse cutover before launch.

  3. Keep improving after launch.

Measure the full buying journey: sample requests, quote completion, trade-account activation, checkout conversion, and delivery friction. Prioritize ongoing improvements with evidence from analytics, search, customer service, and your stores.

Good questions

Shopify for home & decor, explained.

Is Shopify a good fit for furniture and home decor brands?

It can be. The decision depends on your catalog, customization, trade program, delivery requirements, stores, and connected systems. SDG evaluates those workflows first, identifies what Shopify supports natively, and scopes any apps or custom development before recommending an architecture.

Which home furnishings and decor brands has SDG worked with?

SDG’s published work includes Blu Dot, Framebridge, Jenni Kayne, MoMA Design Store, and Society6. The engagements span furniture trade and POS, custom framing, lifestyle commerce, design-led retail, and complex art and decor catalogs. Each case study describes SDG’s specific scope.

Can you support made-to-order products, swatches, and product configurators?

Yes. We model product options, valid combinations, pricing, samples, lead times, and the data production teams need. We assess whether native functionality, an app, or a custom configurator is the right fit, and validate the entire flow through checkout, orders, and fulfillment.

Can Shopify connect our designer trade program and showrooms?

SDG builds coordinated B2B, ecommerce, and POS experiences for retail and trade buyers. Scope can include company accounts, pricing, payment terms, quotes, and associate workflows. Plan eligibility, app dependencies, and custom requirements are confirmed during discovery; not every workflow is available out of the box.

How do you handle freight and white-glove delivery?

We map the actual service areas, product restrictions, fees, delivery providers, and operational handoffs, then integrate the appropriate carrier and order-management systems. Delivery scheduling and white-glove services require their own operational support; they are not automatically supplied by a Shopify storefront.

Can you migrate an existing home brand or improve a store already on Shopify?

Both. SDG handles migrations from Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, and custom platforms, with data reconciliation, SEO continuity, integrations, and launch planning. For existing Shopify stores, we can start with a focused audit, conversion work, a trade or POS rollout, or an ongoing engineering engagement.
